Montessori toddlers working with materials

MATH

Children are drawn to manipulatives, sensorial activities, and hands on materials. montessori encourages hands on learning in every aspect. This is particularly accurate for math work.

The math materials continue to prepare the child for later learning, using concrete materials to introduce abstract concepts, and give a sequential understanding of mathematical concepts.

Examples of math include sandpaper numbers with objects for counting, art work focusing on counting objects for gluing, and a simple spindle box with attractive and inviting spindles.
